Light pierces the darkness
![]()
The Archpastoral letter of His Emminence +JOB, at the feast of the Nativity of our Lord, God and Savior Jesus Christ has been resonating with me a great deal. Not only had I never given much thought or consideration to the dark and dank surroundings to the place of our Lord’s birth, or for that matter to the strikingly similar place of His burial, I think I, like many fail to see the Light and Life which ultimately result. In the first , it is the realization that God is with us, literally, as a flesh and blood human being, incarnate of the Virgin Mary, condescending to take on flesh for us men and for our salvation. The latter situation bringing Life, via His trampling down death by death, thus breaking sin’s power over mankind. But it reminds me also that the darkness, at its darkest, comes before the dawn. It may be scary, hard to find ones way, and seem hopeless, but the light will come. It came in the cave in Bethlehem, it exuded from the empty tomb overwhelming the myhrbearers, and it will come in our lives as we seek to live in the power of the ressurection, and in the knowledege that the God of the universe took on our human flesh for our salvation.
Christ is Born! Glorify Him!
